I’ve had a number of people in leadership roles ask me why they should come to another leadership conference. With the Global Leadership Summit sponsored by Willow Creek and Sweetwater, Build on Faith by Habitat for Humanity, and a few others, Fort Wayne is fast becoming a center for leadership training. This is a really good problem to have, right?
So what makes Fortify worth the time commitment and why should you come? Here are my top 3 reasons.
I teach leadership and believe that building better leaders is crucial if we are ever going to have a chance to improve the world we live in. Bill Hybels always says that “…when leaders get better, everyone gets better.” This is so true! And I believe that every disciple maker is a leader. But not every leader is a disciple maker. This is the “fork in the road” where Fortify and other leadership program part somewhat. Our focus is to create Great Commission leaders, willing to go and make other disciple makers.
Live, Local Resources
Being a leader can sometimes be lonely and is always challenging. I’ve yet to find a true leader who doesn’t need help. And the really great thing about Fortify is that our resource partners come with real, live people who can help you navigate through your challenges with tools and training that actually work! And we work with you until you get it right. Whether you lead a business, a church or a family…we have you covered.
Our community is blessed with leaders who have “been there, done that”. And when we can watch real people solving real problems…the same problems we are facing…we gain hope, courage and the wisdom we need to go forward. It’s additional armor for the fight. And Paul reminds us in Ephesians 6:11 that we should “put on the full armor of God, so that we can take our stand against the devil’s schemes.” This year’s speakers at Fortify will be sharing their experiences in dealing with forgiveness, humility and commitment. You don’t want to miss this!
There is so much more to Fortify but you’ll have to come and experience it for yourself. And if you are currently a disciple making leader or aspire to become one, please mark February 27, 2018, on your calendar for Fortify 2018.
